L2: Empuraan Vs Chhaava: Mohan Lal Starrer Set To Break Vicky Kaushal's Periodic Drama Film Records

L2: Empuraan Vs Chhaava:

L2: Empuraan, featuring the dynamic duo of Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has swiftly scaled new heights in the cinematic world by amassing over Rs 200 crore in just five days post its release, marking an unprecedented achievement. This remarkable feat not only showcases the film's immense popularity but also sets a new record, outshining Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava by reaching this milestone faster than any other film this year. Released on March 27, Empuraan's box office journey has been nothing short of spectacular, capturing the audience's admiration and setting the cash registers ringing globally.

L2 Empuraan Vs Chhaava Box Office

The film's extraordinary performance has been officially acknowledged by its creators, who took to social media to celebrate the achievement. "The OVERLORD shatters the Rs 200 crore barrier in style! EMPURAAN makes history (sic)," they announced, underscoring the movie's swift ascent to box office glory. This success is particularly notable given that Empuraan had already bested Chhaava's opening weekend collections by raking in Rs 138 crore worldwide within just three days, according to Sacnilk's reports. Now, with its entry into the Rs 200 crore club in a record time, surpassing Chhaava's seven-day timeline, Empuraan has firmly established its dominance.

Despite its commercial success, L2: Empuraan has not been without its controversies. The film, directed and co-starred by Prithviraj Sukumaran, has faced criticism over its portrayal of riots, prompting a significant reaction online. As a result, the movie has undergone re-censorship, with an edited version scheduled for release on April 2. This updated cut will see the removal of a three-minute-long sequence and certain words, addressing some of the concerns raised by its audience.

L2: Empuraan serves as the sequel to the 2019 hit Lucifer and boasts a star-studded cast including Abhimanyu Singh, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in significant roles. The film's ability to engage and thrill audiences, coupled with its record-breaking box office performance, underscores the enduring appeal of its lead actors and the visionary direction of Sukumaran.
