Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Reboot: Smriti Irani 's First Look As Tulsi Out
Smriti Irani is making a comeback to television with the eagerly anticipated reboot of "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi." The first glimpse of her as Tulsi Virwani has been released. In this look, Smriti dons a maroon saree embellished with golden butis and a zari border. Her ensemble is completed with a large red bindi, traditional temple jewellery, a black-beaded mangalsutra, and stacked bangles, reminiscent of early-2000s TV fashion.
The original "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" aired from 2000 to 2008 and dominated the television ratings for seven years straight. Amar Upadhyay, who reprises his role as Mihir Virani, confirmed that the show's premiere has been postponed. Hindustan Times quoted a source saying changes to the set caused the delay.
Upadhyay mentioned, "Yes, it's true. The set had to be reworked. Apparently, the colour combination on the screen wasn't translating the way it should."

Smriti Irani 's Journey
Smriti Irani discussed her journey with "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" during a chat with Barkha Dutt and Karan Johar on "We The Women." She revealed an interesting fact about her contract in 2014. "If you look at the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi journey in totality, the most well-kept secret about it was I had a contract to do it again in 2014," she shared.
Irani further explained why she didn't return to the show back then. She said, "I walked away from it because I had to serve in the Indian Parliament as a cabinet minister. The set was ready, but there was a phone call from the Prime Minister's office that you have to take an oath." This decision highlights her dedication to public service over her acting career.
Show Delays and Adjustments
The show's creator Ektaa Kapoor is known for her attention to detail and perfectionism. Upadhyay added that Ektaa wants everything perfect for this legacy show. He stated, "Ektaa knows exactly what she wants, she's a perfectionist. And this is Kyunki. It's not just another show. It's a legacy and she wants to do everything what's best for the show."
Smriti also recalled advice from Rishi Kapoor during that period. She mentioned how he encouraged her decision by saying, "I remember Rishi Kapoor telling me to leave now because to serve your country is a greater service than just doing a movie or doing television." This advice played a significant role in her choice at that time.
