Kuberaa OTT Release: How Much Did Amazon Prime Pay For Digital Rights of Dhanush-Starrer?

The countdown for the release of Dhanush and Nagarjuna-starrer Kuberaa is on. The multilingual film will have its digital release on Friday, July 18.

Released on June 20, Sekhar Kammula-directorial has grossed over Rs 130 crore at the worldwide box office, with the big contribution coming from the Telugu version. In India, the movie has made a net collection close to Rs 90 crore.

The movie is now ready to hit the OTT platform. Amazon Prime has struck a deal with the makers even before its release. However, one of the producers during the promotion of the movie revealed that the OTT platform wanted the makers to release on June 20 itself, failing which they would cut Rs 10 crore from the agreed amount.

According to a report in OTTPlay, the OTT platform paid Rs 50 crore for Kuberaa digital rights. Some reports claim that the final amount was Rs 47 crore. However, neither the platform nor the makers have confirmed the price paid for the OTT rights.

Dhanush has given his best performance. Be it the opening scene, the scenes at the guest house, the Khushbu sequence or the dialogues with Rashmika, he towers in all of them. Nagarjuna's subtle and realistic acting is first-rate. Rashmika Mandanna, who is the female lead in the movie, got one more memorable role and did an excellent job.

Devi Sri Prasad's background score is apt. Last but not least, Sekhar Kammula's writing, execution and direction worked out so well.

It is interesting to note that the movie has done far better at the box office in Telugu than in Tamil.
