Kareena Kapoor Set For Kannada Debut? Bollywood Actress To Work In Yash's 'Toxic'

A month after announcing the project, there is a big news coming about 'KGF' star Yash's upcoming movie 'Toxic'.

If the latest rumours are to be believed, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor will be playing the female lead in the multilingual project which will make Kareena Kapoor's debut in the Kannada film industry.

It is interesting to note that Kareena had expressed her interest in working with Yash on 'Koffee With Karan' season 8. During the rapid-fire round, host Karan Johar had asked, "Which South actor would you like to be paired up with?" She had chosen among Prabhas, Ram Charan, Vijay Deverakonda, Allu Arjun, and Yash.

Kareena said - Yash. She then explained: "I am more of a KGF girl. So, Yash."

Following the gigantic success of 'KGF' series, Yash has taken his own sweet time to finalise his next flick. After much deliberation and meeting several filmmakers, he has given the green signal for Malayalam filmmaker Geetu Mohandas' story which will deal with the drug menace.

The project was formally announced last month. Sharing the teaser, Yash said, "'What you seek is seeking you' - Rumi A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups."

The promotional video has also announced the release date of the movie as April 10, 2025. The team has set a 16-month deadline to bring it before the audience.

Sources say that 'Toxic' deals around the drug mafia and is primarily set in Goa. The movie, like 'KGF', will be made in at least five languages - Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Hindi.

It is interesting to note that this is for the first time that Yash is working with a female filmmaker. More importantly, he zeroed in on her subject despite getting scripts from some of the leading filmmakers from India including Shankar and Puri Jagannath.

Geetu Mohandas is known for her works in the Malayalam film industry. She has directed the Hindi road film 'Liar's Dice' and the action thriller 'Moothon'. The movie is bankrolled by KVN Productions which has made movies such as 'Pogaru' and 'Bytwo Love'.

As per the latest reports, Sai Pallavi will be part of the movie.
