Kannappa OTT Release: Where Can You Watch Manchu Vishnu Starrer Film Online?
After a decade-long wait, Manchu Vishnu's dream project Kannappa is finally hitting the big screens on 27 June 2025. The mythological action-drama will have a grand worldwide theatrical release, and the latest buzz confirms that Kannappa will not premiere early on OTT platforms.

No Early OTT Release for Kannappa
Despite growing trends of early digital premieres, Kannappa is breaking the mold. The film will stick to an 8-week OTT window, giving it ample time to perform in theaters. The movie will stream on a digital platform only after two months of theatrical run, provided it performs well.
This OTT clause is part of a two-tier streaming deal structured by Vishnu Manchu himself:
If Kannappa becomes a box office hit:
- It will stream on OTT only after 8 weeks. So, if the film follows the 8-week OTT window rule, it could stream on or after August 22, 2025.
- A pre-fixed, high-value amount has already been locked with a top OTT platform.
If Kannappa underperforms:
So, if the film underperforms and follows the 4-week OTT clause, it could stream on OTT on or after July 25, 2025.
This strategy ensures maximum revenue from both theatrical and non-theatrical rights, proving Vishnu's confidence in the film's content and mass appeal.
While the makers haven't officially confirmed the digital partner, a report by Rozana Spokesman suggests that Kannappa is likely to premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
Kannappa Releases in Multiplexes Nationwide
Kannappa is not just a Telugu release. The film is hitting national multiplex chains across Hindi-speaking regions, signaling Vishnu Manchu's ambitious nationwide reach. While the buzz was modest initially, advance bookings picked up quickly once ticketing opened on BookMyShow, indicating strong audience curiosity.
Major Star Cast Adds to the Hype
The film features an ensemble cast of Indian cinema icons:
Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva
Kajal Aggarwal as Parvati
Mohan Babu, Sarath Kumar, Siva Balaji, and Brahmanandam in key roles
Prabhas and Mohanlal are also rumored to make cameo appearances
Manchu Vishnu, who plays the lead, is also the producer, having mounted the film on a massive budget. In a recent interview, he expressed satisfaction over the OTT deal and the strategic release plan that favors both creative and commercial outcomes.
The film has been in the making for over two years, including one postponement. With everything now aligned and early screenings receiving positive feedback, Vishnu is confident that Kannappa will find its audience in theaters before making its way to OTT.
The OTT platform name remains undisclosed, but reliable sources suggest that a top-tier service has bagged the rights, pending official confirmation.
