Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has done a came as Kirata while Baahubali star Prabhas will be seen as Rudra in Telugu. Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal are seen as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

It is based on the legend of Kannappa in Hinduism, a devotee of the god Shiva.

Kannappa Movie Review

In Kannappa, we follow Thinnadu (Vishnu Manchu), a tribal hunter guided solely by instinct, who has no belief in the divine. His life takes an unexpected turn when he finds a Shiva lingam hidden in the forest. His initial defiance gives way to a powerful, unconditional devotion.

Thinnadu offers worship not through prescribed rituals, but with uninhibited, heartfelt sincerity. When Lord Shiva (Akshay Kumar) challenges his faith to its core, it prompts a breathtaking act of sacrifice that resonates even with the gods. This film beautifully illustrates how a man without faith can become a saint, driven by pure innocence, love, and complete surrender.

The movie has opened to fairly positive reviews from netizens. Find out what they say about Kannappa:

Thyview: Once Prabhas enters the story, #Kannappa starts to work. The film becomes focused. Scenes start to hit harder. The next one hour is strong and memorable. Manchu Vishnu gives an honest and committed performance during this stretch. The devotional angle kicks in, and the music lifts the emotions.

Until then, the writing feels lost. The first half is weak. Almost nothing works. The film doesn't find its rhythm until the devotional theme takes over.

If you can sit through the first half, the second half will reward you. It won't blow you away, but you'll walk out feeling somewhat satisfied.

Likhith Reddy: #Kanappa Review:-

Second half #Prabhas the man the myth pulled the movie, #AkshayKumar and #KajalAggarwal did well, One of the best performance by #vishnu

Ravi Prabhu: Just watched @iVishnuManchu Kannappa in the USA. Slower first half and a more engaging second half. Vishnu's performance is stellar and top notch; more than 17 min of Prabhas's screen time. Ending is intense. Vishnu Tried very hard to create an epic and the movie is worth watching. 3.5🌟/5 for me #KannappaMovie #kannappareview #VishnuManchu #Prabhas‌ #Mohanlal

Sanchari Tweets: #Kannappa is a decent watch.. . Last 30 minutes worked well with devotion. MohanLal at Interval is good cameo... #Prabhas scenes worked well in writing... #Akshaykar good as lord shiva though was all set in one setting, it was apt.

Overall 2.75 ⭐️

Vivek Mishra: #KanappaReview ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½
What starts as a warrior's tale ends in a divine revelation. The final act hits you like thunder ⚡-raw, emotional, spiritual. If you teared up in #Kantara, get ready to weep with devotion during #Kanappa's climax 🕉️🔥
#VishnuManchu #AkshayKumar #Prabhas

Sumit Kadel: #KanappaReview

Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 ( 3.5 )

Just watched #Kanappa, and I still can't shake off the last 30 minutes from my mind. The only time I've felt something this intense was during the climax of #Kantara. Audiences - especially devotees of Lord Shiva will be left in tears. The climax is spine-chilling, emotionally overpowering and goosebumps inducing

The film is based on the true story of a warrior who fought for his people and tribe but didn't believe in God and how he eventually becomes the greatest devotee of Lord Shiva. You'll witness this transformation unfold on screen.

The film is long and the first half suffers due to its slow pace. But the interval block, terrific #Mohanlal's sequence, #Prabhas Fantastic cameo, and above all, the climax, take the film to another level altogether.

#VishnuManchu was born to play Kanappa. His performance is top-notch - he pours his soul into both the action and emotional scenes, and it shows on the big screen. His acting in the last 15 minutes could define his career ,the audience will shower immense love on this role.

#AkshayKumar embodies Lord Shiva with sheer perfection, radiating divine aura and purity that leaves a lasting impact. #KajalAggarwal as Maa Parvati is graceful and emotionally resonant, while #MohanBabu delivers a superlative performance .

Overall, Kanappa is a good film. The slow pace and modest production values are its weak points, but the last 40 minutes featuring Vishnu Manchu memorable performance , along with Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, and Prabhas as Rudra, make it worth watching.

#Kannappa is visually grand with a powerful mythological core. Prabhas, Mohanlal & Akshay Kumar shine in cameos, and Rajinikanth's praise speaks volumes. But some VFX scenes fall flat, and the pacing drags in parts.
Rating- 3.0/5

Rohit Jaiswal: Last 40 min of #Kannappa is SPECTACULAR.... I have never seen anything like this before, it's a film made for SHIV BHAKTS those who believe in SHIV LEELA, and those who are proud SANATANI....
