Kannada Director Pawan Wadeyar's Mother Passes Away

Kannada filmmaker Pawan Wadeyar's mother passed away on Wednesday in Bengaluru. She was aged 73.

Announcing the news, Wadeyar's wife and actress Apeksha Purohit said in a social media post: "With profound sorrow, we inform the passing of our beloved mother-in-law. "Geeta Wadeyar". She touched many lives with kindness, strength, and love. May her soul rest in peace, and may we find comfort in the cherished memories she leaves behind. We request your prayers and blessings for the departed soul. The last rites will be performed in Kunigal..."

According to a report in Vijaya Karnataka, Geeta Wadeyar had been battling Multiple Myeloma (a type of blood cancer) alongside Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare and debilitating neurological disorder. Over the last two months, her health had drastically deteriorated.

Despite the best efforts of the medical team, she ultimately succumbed to her illness on Wednesday.

The mortal remains of Geeta Wadeyar have been brought to her native village of Kunigal in the Tumakuru district. The final rites will be performed today (June 17) in accordance with traditional religious rituals.

The family members, close relatives, and friends are likely gather to pay their final respects.

Pawan Wadeyar is a leading filmmaker who started off his career with Govindaya Namaha. He then directed Yash-starrer Googly which went on to become a blockbuster. He had also collaborated with late Puneeth Rajkumar in Ranavikrama and Natasarvabhauma.

He is currently busy with his next project Bail which stars Shivaraj Kumar.

The news of Geeta Wadeyar comes a day after the passing away of Jayamma, mother of Sandalwood actors Srimurali and Vijay Raghavendra and wife of veteran Kannada producer Chinnegowda.
