Kanguva 1st Day Tamil Nadu Box Office: Has Suriya's Film Shattered Sivakarthikeyan's Amaran Record?

Suriya's Kanguva has opened to a decent start at the Tamil Nadu box office. Despite being a non-holiday opener, the movie has managed to pull the audience to theatres on Thursday.

There were rumours that the movie has beaten the opening-day record of Sivakarthikeyan's recent hit movie Amaran. However, the trade treports claim that the latest fick has failed to shatter this record.

On the first day, Kanguva has raked in around Rs 11.25 crore (nett) from day 1 in Tamil Nadu. In Chennai, the movie had 68.50% from 954 shows, 68.25% from 238 shows from Coimbatore, 47.50% occupancy from 157 shows, and 55.75% from 72 shows in Salem, Sacnik data says.

Whereas Amaran had earned Rs 16.5 crore from Tamil Nadu on first day. The biggest opener of 2024 remains Vijay's GOAT, which amassed Rs 31.56 crore on its first day, followed by Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan with Rs 20.25 crore. Also, Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 had earned Rs 13 crore.

Coming back to Kanguva, the movie has raked in Rs 3.45 crore in Karnataka. It has collected Rs 9.9 crore in Andhra and Telangana. In Kerala, it collected Rs 2.3 crore while doing Rs 1.6 crore from rest of India. The movie has grossed Rs 30.25 crore with a net collection of Rs 25.60 crore.

The worldwide collection of the flick stands at Rs 56.25 crore.
