'Kalki 2898 AD' On OTT: How Much Money Did Producers Make From Digital Rights?

Prabhas and Deepika Padukone's much-anticipated film 'Kalki 2898 AD' has made its debut on OTT platforms, following a successful theatrical run.

The film, which has already made waves at the box office, is now be available to a wider audience in both South Indian languages and Hindi through popular streaming services.

The Hindi version of 'Kalki 2898 AD' is being streamed on Netflix from August 20, the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam versions will be available on Amazon Prime Video from August 22. This dual-platform release strategy is expected to further boost the film's reach and viewership across different regions.

The Price Of 'Kalki 2898 AD' Digital Rights

In a remarkable deal, the digital rights for the film's various language versions were sold for record-breaking prices. The OTT rights for the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions were reportedly sold for a whopping Rs 200 crores.

Meanwhile, the Hindi version alone fetched an impressive Rs 175 crores. These figures, though staggering, highlight the immense demand for the film, particularly in the Hindi-speaking market.

"Kalki 2898 AD," directed by Nag Ashwin, was released in theaters on June 27 and quickly became a massive success. The film managed to recover its production costs through its theatrical run alone, solidifying its status as a box office triumph. The film has concluded its domestic box office journey with a net collection of Rs 653.21 crore, equivalent to Rs 770.78 crores gross. Internationally, the film grossed an additional Rs 283.89 crore, bringing its worldwide total to an astounding Rs 1054.67 crore.
