Jana Nayagan Release Date: Is Vijay's Film Really Hitting Screens On May 8?

As Vijay prepares for the big counting day on May 4, rumours have been doing rounds that the movie will hit the screens on May 8. This has left the fans happy as they have been waiting to watch Thalapathy film for months now.

Originally slated for a massive Pongal release on January 9, the film's premiere was halted due to intense scrutiny from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Reports suggest that the board raised concerns over specific political themes and scenes depicting the armed forces, which led to a protracted legal battle in the Madras High Court.

Despite having recorded advance bookings of over ₹100 crore back in January, the producers were forced to pull the film until the issues were resolved.

The Piracy Blow: Leaks and Losses
Adding to the makers' woes, Jana Nayagan became a victim of severe piracy. In a shocking turn of events, the full movie was leaked online in high definition. The situation escalated when a local cable operator in Coimbatore reportedly aired the film, leading to immediate police intervention and arrests.

These setbacks have had a massive financial impact. Sources indicate that the makers suffered losses running into crores, compounded by the cancellation of a lucrative OTT deal as the exclusive streaming rights lost value following the leak.

May 8 or June 22?

While the May 8 date is circulating widely, KVN Productions has not made it official. It is highly unlikely that the makers will release a Vijay film without a proper advance booking or promotions.

Many believe the makers are waiting for the election results on May 4 to settle before making a formal announcement. There is also a secondary wave of reports suggesting the film might be pushed to June 22, coinciding with Vijay's birthday, to maximize the emotional and celebratory turnout.
