Jana Nayagan Ready For Release: Vijay's Film To Release On Feb 20 As Censor Issue Set To End?

After a lengthy and dramatic legal battle, the much-awaited Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan is finally set to hit theatres. Yes, you heard it right.

The film's release was stuck for over a month due to a delay in getting its censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Now, the latest reports in the Tamil media claim that Vijay-starrer will be out on February 20.

The problem began in December 2025. The film was submitted for approval, and an initial CBFC committee saw it. They suggested some edits and recommended a U/A certificate, which the makers promptly followed. However, at the last minute, a fresh objection was raised within the CBFC about certain scenes. This led the CBFC Chairperson to send the film to a higher 'Revising Committee', putting the entire process on hold.

With its original January 9 release date just days away, the producers, KVN Productions, took the matter to the Madras High Court. They argued the delay was unfair and causing heavy financial losses. While a single judge first ordered the CBFC to issue the certificate, a larger bench of the High Court later overturned this. They stated the CBFC must complete its full legal process. The producers even approached the Supreme Court briefly, but were asked to return to the High Court.

The latest development brings an end to this uncertainty. The film's team has prepared a new edited version as required. Reports confirm that KVN Productions will withdraw its court case once formalities are complete, clearing the final hurdle for release.

Jana Nayagan is one of the most anticipated Tamil films as it marks the final acting project of superstar Vijay before he focuses fully on his political career. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film's journey to the screens has been challenging, but fans can now mark their calendars for its arrival in cinemas on February 20.
