Actor Thalapathy Vijay touched down in Malaysia on Thursday, setting the stage for what is being billed as one of the grandest audio launch events ever organised for a Tamil film outside India. The star was accompanied by his mother and the film's music composer Anirudh Ravichander as he arrived in Kuala Lumpur ahead of the much-anticipated audio launch of Jana Nayagan.

Vijay's arrival turned into a spectacle in itself, with organisers arranging a traditional Silat performance to welcome him. Silat, Malaysia's national martial art, was performed as a mark of respect and celebration, underlining the actor's immense popularity not just in India but across the global Tamil diaspora. Videos and photos of the reception quickly went viral on social media, with fans praising the scale and cultural warmth of the welcome extended to the actor.

Jana Nayagan has been in the spotlight ever since its announcement, largely because it is expected to be Vijay's final film before he transitions fully into politics. The actor recently launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and has made it clear that his focus will soon shift entirely to public life. As a result, the film and its promotions carry added emotional weight for fans who have followed Vijay's cinematic journey for over three decades.

The audio launch is scheduled to take place on December 27 at the iconic Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

The venue is among the largest in Southeast Asia and reflects the sheer scale envisioned for the event. Organisers are expecting an overwhelming turnout, with estimates ranging between 75,000 and 90,000 attendees. If these numbers hold, it will mark the biggest overseas fan gathering ever for a Vijay film event.

The programme has been carefully planned as a two-part celebration.

The first segment, titled "Thalapathy Thiruvizha," is designed as a musical tribute to Vijay's illustrious career. Around 30 singers are expected to perform, revisiting chart-topping songs from across different phases of the actor's filmography. This tribute concert is intended to be a nostalgic journey for fans, celebrating Vijay not just as a star but as a cultural phenomenon.

The second part will be the official audio launch of Jana Nayagan. This segment will feature speeches by Vijay, director H Vinoth, music director Anirudh Ravichander, and other members of the cast and crew. Industry insiders suggest that Vijay's address will be keenly watched, given its timing at the crossroads of his film career and political ambitions.

Adding to the buzz, celebrities including Vijay, Anirudh Ravichander, and Prabhu Deva have already departed for Malaysia, indicating that several familiar faces from the Tamil film industry will be present at the event.

For fans unable to travel to Kuala Lumpur, the organisers have ensured extensive broadcast coverage. The entire programme has been recorded as a six-hour entertainment special. However, it will not be telecast live. Zee Tamil is set to air the event on January 4, 2026.

Additionally, the show will stream on ZEE5 Tamil from 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm on the same day.

The televised and digital release is expected to draw massive viewership, potentially becoming one of the most-watched entertainment events of the year. It will also serve as a high-voltage build-up to the theatrical release of Jana Nayagan, which is scheduled to hit cinemas on January 9, 2026.
