Is Thalapathy Vijay Fans Behind Negative Reviews For Suriya's Kanguva?

With each major Kollywood release, social media seems to see a surge in negative trends, often attempting to undermine the film's success. One of the most notable instances was with Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan, where a wave of negative reviews circulated for over 48 hours following its release.

Now, Kanguva, Suriya's latest and most ambitious project, appears to be the latest target. In the last 36 hours, hundreds of posts tagged #KanguvaDisaster have appeared on X, many of them allegedly from fans of actor Vijay. These posts feature video clips and negative commentary, often criticizing Suriya's performance and the film itself.

Some users even directed trolling remarks at producer Gnanavel Raja, referencing his previous comments. One fan of Vijay wrote, "#Kanguva #KanguvaDisaster we can have confidence but not overconfidence 👎Epic disaster is loading 👎." Another added, "#KanguvaDisaster Totally washout 🤐 Even the general audience didn't like the movie 🤦🏻‍♂️ Worst reviews from general audience & fans alike 🤦🏻‍♂️ #KanguvaBookings #Suriya #Suriya44."

It is said that the fans of Vijay are upset with Suriya for not sending his wishes after he founded his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

However, one user said that Kollywood dservers a hit for its growth. "Kollywood needs a 1000CR movie no matter who the hero is .#Kanguva - Most of the Vijay fans booked tickets and went to theater and they had difference of opinion so they are venting out . Another user commented, "No Vijay fans did that to #Kanguva if we decide to do no one will stop it . But yet Vijay fans silently ignored and just like other fans vented out their frustration. Despite the online negativity, Kanguva, directed by Siruthai Siva of Veeram and Viswasam fame, has had a solid start at the box office. This period drama, reportedly the highest-budget film in Suriya's career, earned over Rs 22 crore in India on its opening day.

It has done well in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. With so much of negative reviews, the movie is expected to do well.
