Is Ranveer Singh Banned? FWICE Issues Non-Cooperation Directive Over Alleged Don 3 Exit

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh over his alleged sudden withdrawal from Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar.

The move comes after complaints were reportedly filed by the filmmakers, who claimed that the actor stepped away from the project at a very advanced stage, causing major financial and scheduling concerns.

The matter has now sparked discussion within the film industry about professional commitments, contracts and the financial risks linked to large-scale movie productions.

What Is The Dispute About?

According to an official statement shared by FWICE, the federation took "serious cognizance" of a complaint forwarded by the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA).

The complaint was reportedly submitted by Farhan Akhtar on April 11, 2026, after Ranveer Singh allegedly withdrew from Don 3 at the last moment.

Following the complaint, FWICE held meetings with all parties connected to the project, including Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani.

During the discussions, the filmmakers informed the federation that around ₹45 crore had already been spent on pre-production work for the film.

Makers Claim Huge Financial Losses

According to FWICE, the makers expressed concern that the sudden exit of the lead actor could seriously affect the production. The federation stated that the producers feared major financial losses because schedules, planning and investments had already been finalised around the actor's involvement.

Farhan Akhtar reportedly told FWICE that he had blocked his professional schedule for the film considering its large scale and the presence of a major star in the lead role.
The filmmaker also described abrupt withdrawal from a committed project as unacceptable and against long-standing industry norms.

FWICE Sent Multiple Notices To Ranveer Singh

FWICE stated that it contacted Ranveer Singh several times and requested him to personally appear before the federation to explain his side of the matter.

The organisation said the purpose was to ensure a fair and balanced resolution after hearing all parties involved.

However, according to the federation, a reply was later received on behalf of the actor instead of a direct appearance.

Ranveer Singh's Response

As per FWICE, Ranveer Singh's side argued that the federation was not the appropriate platform to handle the dispute. The response reportedly stated that the matter was contractual in nature and should be handled before a proper legal forum instead.
