Is Nitya Mehra Really Aneet Padda’s Mother? The Internet Thinks So
Nitya Mehra, best known as the director of Baar Baar Dekho starring Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra, is trending online after rumours falsely claimed that she is the mother of Saiyaara actress Aneet Padda. The speculation quickly gained traction across social media and Reddit, where users began questioning if Aneet is yet another Bollywood "nepo kid."

But is there any truth to the claim? Let's break it down.
Is Aneet Padda Related to Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia?
According to a viral Reddit post titled "Aneet Padda Nepo Kid", the rising actress allegedly has strong industry roots, being the daughter of Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia. The post accused Aneet of being "born with connections," with many believing she got her break in Saiyaara because of these industry ties.
However, this claim is entirely false. Both Nitya Mehra and Karan Kapadia became parents only in 2019, which makes it impossible for them to be the biological parents of Aneet Padda, who was born on October 14, 2002.
The confusion likely stems from Aneet referring to Mehra and Kapadia as her "Bombay parents" during the shoot of Big Girls Don't Cry, an Amazon Prime Video series directed by Karan Kapadia and produced by Nitya Mehra. The two filmmakers mentored Aneet during the production, offering support akin to that of family-but they are not her parents.
Who Is Aneet Padda?
Aneet Padda is an emerging actress who hails from a middle-class family in Amritsar. She studied at Spring Dale Senior School and later attended Jesus and Mary College, Delhi, where she began her modelling journey. Her parents prefer to stay out of the spotlight, and little is publicly known about them, except that her mother supported her acting ambitions early on.
Before her big break in Saiyaara, Aneet featured in ad campaigns for Nescafé, Cadbury Dairy Milk, and Paytm. She even had a minor role in Kajol's 2022 film Salaam Venky.
Her first major on-screen appearance was in 2024's Big Girls Don't Cry, where she starred alongside Pooja Bhatt, Raima Sen, and Zoya Hussain. This performance likely caught the attention of major industry names, as she is now followed on Instagram by stars like Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
So, Is Aneet Padda a Nepo Kid?
Despite rumours, Aneet Padda is not a nepo kid. She does not come from a Bollywood family and did not benefit from legacy privileges. Her journey from Amritsar to a Yash Raj Films production is a classic outsider story. The "Nitya Mehra is her mother" theory is not just misleading-it's factually incorrect.
The discussion around nepotism in Bollywood continues to dominate headlines, but in this case, Aneet stands out as someone who made her way in through auditions, hard work, and on-screen talent-not family connections.
