'Indian 2' 1st Day Box Office Collection: Kamal's Film Off To A Slow Start In Tamil Nadu, AP
Kamal Haasan and Shankar's much-hyped movie 'Indian 2' is off to a slow start at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Released in over 500 screens, 'Indian 2' has hit the screens in multiple languages across the country. However, only Tamil and Telugu versions have got better response.

The advance booking for tickets had met good response in some theatres in Tamil Nadu. Rakesh Gowthaman, who managed Vettri Theatres, said on X: "Very good advance bookings for #Indian2 in #Vettri !!!"
As per the trade reports, 'Indian 2' has earned over Rs 7 crore from the advance booking while collecting over Rs 4 crore in the Andhra and Telangana. However, the combined collection of Shankar's film from advance sales in Karnataka and Kerala stood around Rs 3 crore.
Over Rs 15 crore has been collected from prebooking in India. Overall, the movie is likely to earn over Rs 50 crore on the first day at the worldwide box office.
However, the industry was hoping that the movie would become the biggest opener of 2024 and strike gold at the box office across the country. Well, the Hindi version has not opened to great response.
Talking about the film, noted critic Taran Adarsh wrote on X: "Interesting ideas don't always make for interesting films... Archaic writing is the biggest culprit here... Director #Shankar misses a golden opportunity... Even #KamalHaasan's wonderful act cannot salvage it. #Hindustani2Review #Indian2"
The mega-budget film is a sequel to 1996 blockbuster 'Indian'. Directed by Shankar, Kamal Haasan returns as an anti-corruption crusader. Kamal's look like in the first installment has won a lot of appreciation.
However, the movie has met with mixed reviews. The lack of emotions backed by goosebumps-inducing scenes have not gone well with the fans. As a result, it has met with mixed response from the viewers.
