Ashwini first met Puneeth at a gym in Bengaluru, where both trained regularly.

She remembers noticing his simple and friendly behaviour more than his celebrity status. Looking back, she recalls that he often appeared very stylish and would come to the gym wearing smart T-shirts.

Their casual conversations gradually turned into a warm friendship.

One day Puneeth asked Ashwini for her home landline number. She refused firmly and told him he did not need to call her. Determined, Puneeth somehow managed to find the number anyway.

When he finally called, Ashwini jokingly told him it was the wrong number and hung up. The playful teasing slowly strengthened their connection and eventually developed into a deeper friendship.

Family Roots and a Simple Childhood

Ashwini comes from a close-knit family. Her father, Revanath, originally belongs to the Chikkamagaluru district, although she was born in Mysuru.

She spent only her early childhood there before the family moved to Bengaluru because of her father's work. Her mother worked as a teacher at the well-known university campus Manasagangotri.

She has two siblings-a sister who now lives in Australia and a brother who lives closer to home. Her mother's native village, Kushavara in Chikkamagaluru district, holds special emotional significance for the family.

During school holidays, cousins would gather in the village, enjoying time away from the busy life of the city. These family gatherings were filled with food, stories, and laughter.

Even today, Ashwini says the cousins remain close and meet every few months to revisit their childhood memories.

Letters, Greeting Cards, and a First Date

Ashwini had seen Puneeth long before she met him in person. As a child, she watched him in the National Award-winning film Bettada Hoovu, where he played the character Ramu.

At that time, she never imagined that the boy she saw on screen would one day become her husband.

Their relationship developed during a time when messaging apps did not exist. Instead, couples communicated through greeting cards and handwritten letters. Puneeth often wrote heartfelt notes to Ashwini.

There was one amusing issue-his handwriting was difficult to read. Ashwini would sometimes return the card and ask him to read the message aloud.

Their first proper date took place at a coffee shop on Cunningham Road in Bengaluru. During that meeting, they spoke openly about their careers, family expectations, and long-term plans. That conversation helped them realize that their relationship was serious.

However, Ashwini remained firm in her decision to marry Puneeth.

The turning point came when Parvathamma Rajkumar personally visited Ashwini's home with other family members. During the meeting, she reassured Ashwini's parents and promised that the Rajkumar family would take full responsibility for the marriage.
