How Bengaluru Cops' Intelligence Thwarted Darshan's Escape Plan? Here's An Interesting Story

The people of Karnataka were shocked when news suddenly broke on Tuesday that Kannada superstar Darshan had been arrested. Known for controversies, many initially didn't grasp the seriousness until it emerged that he was arrested in connection with a murder case.

As details unfolded, TV viewers were astounded to learn of his alleged involvement, especially considering the victim, Renuka Swamy, had no apparent link to the actor. It was revealed that Darshan and his associates allegedly murdered Swamy over an alleged obscene message sent to Darshan's friend, Pavithra Gowda.

However, for many, the turn of events came as a surprise as they wondered how the cops could act at lightning speed in such high-profile case. Well, the early findings clearly indicate that Darshan's escape plan backfired big time and it looks like he dug his graveyard.

How Darshan Planned To Escape?

After the murder, the body was thrown into a drainage in Sumanahalli and it was discovered the next day and the investigation started. The next day four people surrendered before the cops.

The officers believed their story and the matter was nearly closed if not for Girish, deputy commissioner of police (west division) and assistant commissioner of police (Vijayanagar) Chandan Kumar.

Sensing something amiss, they probed further and discovered inconsistencies in the suspects' statements. It became evident that the aides were coerced into taking the blame and were paid off by Vinay V, a restaurant owner in RR Nagar and a close associate of Darshan.

"Look at the sequence of events here: there was a murdered person and four guys who walked into station owning up the crime. The station-level officers believed the cooked-up story and chose to close the case. But Girish wasn't convinced," sources from the police told The Times of India.

Further investigation revealed a meticulously planned escape plot by Darshan, which ultimately backfired. The police's persistence and intelligence led to Vinay's arrest, who divulged details implicating Darshan.

Vinay disclosed Darshan's motive stemming from Renukaswamy's social media remarks about his friend Pavithra Gowda, and implicated all involved in the torture. Police recovered CCTV footage showing a Jeep Wrangler, used by Darshan, and a Scorpio, near the location where Renukaswamy's body was disposed of.

Darshan's Arrest Under Pressure

"Next, it was showtime as the 'Sultan of Sandalwood' had to be picked up. We thought it was not going to happen given the stardom and his proximity to politicians. But Girish sir proved us wrong," the daily quoted a cop as saying.

The associates were apprehended on their return from Mysuru, and a covert operation was initiated to arrest Darshan.

The cops then landed in Mysuru hotel and arrested them. But like in movies, where baddies tell the cops that they will come in their vehicle, Darshan too said that he would come in Land Rover Defender. Chandan retorted: "Will you come with us now or should you be....?"

Despite the challenges posed by Darshan's celebrity status, Girish and Chandan orchestrated a successful operation to apprehend him.

Renuka Swamy's family, unaware of the incident, likely never imagined their relative would be involved in such a high-profile case. Perhaps Darshan could have escaped if not for the surrender of his four aides as there was no missing complaint against Renuka Swamy. Without a missing person's report, unravelling the mystery would have been a daunting task for the police.

However, fate had other plans, and his his plan was outsmarted by the police's shrewd tactics.
