Popular stage and screen actor Tom Troupe, whose career spanned over six decades, passed away at the age of 97. He died of natural causes at his home in Beverly Hills, as confirmed by his publicist Harlan Boll and various media outlets.

Troupe's versatile performances across Broadway, film, and television made him a beloved figure in American entertainment. With appearances in more than 75 television shows, including iconic series like Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, Cheers, and Frasier, he earned admiration from audiences across generations.

Tom Troupe Dies

Early Life and Service

Born on July 15, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, Tom Troupe began acting in local theatre before moving to New York City in the 1940s. He trained under the legendary Uta Hagen at the Herbert Berghof Studio, sharpening the skills that would define his long career.

Troupe also served in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery, a testament to his dedication and courage both on and off the stage.

A Flourishing Hollywood Career

Troupe made his Broadway debut in 1957 with The Diary of Anne Frank. The following year, he relocated to Los Angeles, paving the way for an extensive career in film and television. He appeared in acclaimed TV shows such as ER, CHiPs, The Wild Wild West, Knots Landing, Cagney & Lacey, and Murder, She Wrote.

On the big screen, Troupe featured in films like The Devil's Brigade, Kelly's Heroes, Summer School, and My Own Private Idaho, sharing credits with stars like Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix.

A Life in Theatre and Love

Theatre remained a cornerstone of Troupe's career. He shared the stage with his wife, actress Carol Cook, for nearly six decades. The couple became one of theatre's most enduring duos, performing together in productions such as Father's Day, The Lion in Winter, and The Gin Game. Their deep personal and professional bond was recognised in 2002, when both received the prestigious Theatre Ovation Award.

Carol Cook passed away in 2023, just a year before Troupe's death.
