Grammy Awards 2024: Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain Win Best Global Music Album Award
Grammy Awards 2024: Indian music composers Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain on Monday won the trophy for Best Global Music Album at the 66th Grammy Award. Their band fusion band Shakti was awarded for their latest album 'This Moment'.
The moment of pride for the entire country was shared by Shankar Mahadevan himself on the micro-blogging site X, formerly known as Twitter. In the picture, Shankar Mahadevan and Ganesh Rajagopalan can be seen receiving the Grammy award on stage.

"Congrats Best Global Music Album winner - 'This Moment' Shakti. #GRAMMYs," the Grammy wrote in the post.

While receiving the prestigious award, Shankar Mahadevan said, "Thank you, boys. Thank you, God, family, friends, and India. India, we are proud of you...Last but not least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife whom every note of my music is dedicated to."
Mahadevan's speech was followed by a loud cheer from the Indian crowd present at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards 2024.

Released on June 30th last year, the album 'This Moment' comprises eight songs crafted by a talented ensemble including John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist). Their Grammy nomination put them in the esteemed company of artists such as Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido.
