'Garudan' Movie Review: What's Good, What's Bad; Find Out Here

Aadhi (Sasikumar) and Karuna (Unni Mukundan) have been close friends since childhood. Karuna, from a once-wealthy Zamindar family, now runs a brick kiln to hide their financial struggles.

They live in Kombai, where Karuna's grandmother is the head of the temple committee. Life is peaceful until Thangapandi (RV Udhayakumar), a corrupt politician, discovers that a valuable land belongs to the temple and plots to seize it. The land's ownership is proven by an ancient manuscript held by the temple committee. Thangapandi assigns his ruthless relative, Nagaraj (Mime Gopi), to retrieve and destroy the manuscript. "Garudan" revolves around what happens next.

Director RS Durai Senthilkumar delivers a compelling rural drama in "Garudan," blending themes of friendship, betrayal, and a touch of Mahabharata. Soori shines, giving his all to the film. His transformation at the interval and the variation in the climax will electrify audiences. His loyalty to Unni Mukundan's character provides both humor in the first half and heroism in the second.

Sasikumar delivers a powerful performance in one of his best-written roles in recent times. Sshivada impresses with a heart-wrenching cry in a crucial scene, showcasing her talent.

Arthur Wilson's cinematography is exemplary, with war-zone-like visuals in the climax demonstrating his skill. Yuvan's background score is a major highlight, elevating the film's impact.

The director's writing is tight, with well-detailed characterizations and central conflicts. A standout dialogue from Vadivukkarasi encapsulates the film's essence and exemplifies the commendable writing.

'Garudan' is a well-made entertainer without a single dull moment.

Gopinath Rajendran: What a pleasant surprise #Garudan turned out to be!
@sooriofficial is fantastic in this neat little tale of friendship, loyalty and deceit which, even if it gets a little too convenient and predictable in the end, still makes for an entertaining watch. It's been a while since we had a proper commercial flick in Tamil cinema and Garudan can very well break that streak.
