'Felt Like Puking After Watching 'Mirzapur': 'Animal' Director Slams Javed Akhtar

Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is basking in the success of his blockbuster movie 'Animal', has come down heavily on noted lyricist Javed Akhtar over his critical comments about his movie 'Animal.

Responding to Akhtar's comments, Vanga, in a recent interview, said, "It is very clear that he did not watch the film. It's very clear in that comment that he did not see the entire film. Now, if someone is talking without watching the film, what can I say about them?"

He then urged people to check their surroundings before making comments about others. The Telugu filmmaker targeted Javed Akhtar's son and filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar.

He added, "Obviously, you feel bad because it is very clear that he has not seen the film and not only about him, anybody who is throwing stones at an artwork, why don't they check their surroundings first?" He continued, "Why didn't he tell the same thing to Farhan Akhtar when he was producing 'Mirzapur'. Duniya bhar ke gaali Mirzapur ek show mai hai and I haven't watched the whole show. When the show was translated to Telugu, if you watch that, then you will feel like puking. Why is he not checking his son's work?"

Speaking at the Ajanta Ellora International Film Festival in Aurangabad, the award-winning filmmaker had expressed his dismay over a few scenes in 'Animal'. Particularly, he had raised objection to a scene where Ranbir's character asks a woman played by Triptii Dimri to lick his shoe.

He said, "I believe it's a testing time for the young filmmakers today as to what kind of characters they want to create that society will applaud. For instance, if there's a film in which a man asks a woman to lick his shoe or if a man says it's okay to slap a woman, and if the film is a super-duper hit, then that's very dangerous."

The movie has minted Rs 917.82 crore at the worldwide box office.
