Fawad Khan Allegedly Received Whopping Rs 10 Crore For Bollywood Comeback Film 'Abir Gulaal'

Pakistani actor Fawad Khan's forthcoming Bollywood film, 'Abir Gulaal', has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Although there was opposition to Fawad's involvement from the outset, it has only intensified following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

Amidst the controversy, reports have now emerged regarding Fawad's remuneration for the project.

According to a report by Siasat, Fawad, who typically earns between ₹15-20 lakh per television episode in Pakistan and around ₹2 crore per film, received a substantially higher payment for this Indian production.

Allegedly, the actor was paid between ₹5 to ₹10 crore for 'Abir Gulaal'. However, One.in cannot independently verify the accuracy of this claim.

'Abir Gulaal' marks Fawad Khan's return to Bollywood after a hiatus of nine years. He previously starred in three Hindi films - 'Khoobsurat' (2014), 'Kapoor & Sons' (2016), and 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' (2016) - all of which achieved massive popularity among Indian audiences.

It has recently been reported, however, that Abir Gulaal may not see a release in India.

A source close to India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has indicated that the film, which also stars Vaani Kapoor, will not be permitted to screen in the country.

The decision comes in the wake of the tragic terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on 22 April.

Previously, Fawad Khan expressed his sorrow over the incident, writing on his Instagram stories: "Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrifying incident and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time."

Vaani Kapoor also shared her grief, posting on social media: "Have been numb, at a loss of words since the time I have seen the attack on innocent people in Pahalgam. Gutted. Devastated. My prayers are with the families."
