Renuka Swamy's Wife, Unborn Child Deserve Justice: Sudeep On Murder Case Involving Darshan

Five days after Kannada actor Darshan's arrest in connection with the murder of Renuka Swamy, Sandalwood star Kiccha Sudeep has responded to the shocking incident.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Sudeep, who was once a close friend of Darshan, said, "We are only aware of what the media is showing to us because we are not going to police station to get the information. It looks like the media and the police are working hard to uncover the truth. There's no doubt about that,"

He further said that it was not appropriate for him to comment on the artist's involvement when officials at the highest levels, along with the media and police, are doing their jobs properly. "It would be wrong for me to speak on their behalf or against them," Sudeep added.

Renuka Swamy was abducted from Chitradurga on June 8 and taken to Bengaluru, where he was brutally murdered in a shed for allegedly sending obscene messages to Darshan's friend Pavithra Gowda. His body was later discovered in a drainage in Kamakshi Palya on Sunday.

Initially, Darshan's aides, who surrendered before the cops, claimed the murder was over a financial dispute, but police later linked Darshan and Pavithra Gowda to the crime, identifying them as accused number 2 and 1, respectively.

However, the 'Eega' star said that the victim's family should get justice.

"That family deserves justice. That girl deserves justice. Renuka Swamy, who died on the streets, deserves justice. The unborn child deserves justice. Above all, everyone should have faith in justice, and justice should prevail in this case," said Kiccha Sudeep.

"Everyone's heart goes out to that family. The atmosphere doesn't feel right. The film industry should get justice. All the blame seems to be placed on the film industry. The industry needs a clean chit. There are many artists involved. Cinema is not just one or two people. The film industry will be relieved if the culprit is punished," said Kiccha Sudeep.

Sudeep and Darshan were close buddies at one point in time. However, they fell out over some personal differences.

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru cops have arrested over 17 people in connection with the case including Darshan and Pavithra Gowda.

However, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has ruled out the possibility of banning Darshan as it is illegal, but they might plan to give non-cooperation to him if he is proven guilty in the case.
