Esha Deol Kicks Herself For Rejecting Golmaal & Beedi Jalaile – "I Totally Regret It!"

Esha Deol recently shared her thoughts on some of the career decisions she made early on, admitting that turning down certain films may not have been the best choice. While promoting her upcoming film Tumko Meri Kasam, she reflected on how she had declined roles in projects that later became major hits.

In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kanan, she mentioned that she had opportunities to be part of some great films but, for various reasons, decided not to take them. Looking back, she acknowledged that those films could have added significant value to her filmography.

When asked if arrogance played a role in her decisions, she dismissed the idea, explaining that she was neither overconfident nor dismissive. She described herself as well-mannered and naive at the time, making choices based on her comfort level and family values. Some roles conflicted with her schedule, while others simply did not feel right for her. She had to consider multiple factors before committing to a project.

Among the opportunities she passed on was a role in Golmaal and the song Beedi Jalaile from Omkara, which ultimately went to Bipasha Basu. Acknowledging Bipasha's performance, Esha admitted that she did a fantastic job. When asked if she regretted missing out, she said that any actor would feel the same and joked that it was definitely a moment where one would want to bang their head against the wall.

As the daughter of Bollywood legends Dharmendra and Hema Malini, Esha made her debut in 2002 with Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe. Though she gained recognition with Dhoom, she struggled to maintain consistent success. Despite appearing in films like No Entry, Dus, and Cash, she often played supporting roles in ensemble casts.

Over time, she moved away from mainstream Bollywood but has continued to explore digital projects and short films. While some of her past decisions may have cost her major roles, she remains reflective and pragmatic about her journey in the industry.
