EC's Flying Squad Stops Manju Warrier's Car For Search; Fans Take Selfies

Following the election announcement, inspections of vehicles are a common practice nationwide as part of the EC's initiative to stem illegal money circulation, especially targeting vehicles registered in other states.

Upon spotting Manju Warrier's Kerala-registered car, EC officials signalled for a stop. Manju Warrier's car was intercepted at Tiruchirappalli Ariyalur Bypass, where the actress, accompanied by her manager, cooperated with the inspection and was permitted to continue after completion.

During the inspection, locals and even occupants of other vehicles recognized Manju, gathering for selfies. The actress graciously obliged before departing.

Manju Warrier is a popular Malayali actress who made her acting debut with 'Sakshyam'at the age of 17. Her notable films include 'Thooval Kottaram' (1996), 'Sallapam' (1996), 'Ee Puzhayum Kadannu' (1996), and 'Aaraam Thampuran' (1997).

A day ago, the EC's flying squad seized Rs 4 crore from Tambaram railway station, prompting intensified searches throughout the state.

Meanwhile, a team of Flying squad seized Rs 4 crore from three persons who were on their way to Tirunelveli in the poll-bound Tamil Nadu, PTI reported citing police and election officials.
The office of the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said the Income Tax department will launch a detailed investigation into the matter. The three persons had boarded a train to Tirunelveli from Egmore here and the team of officials intercepted them at nearby Tambaram late last night and found Rs 4 crore in their possession.

"It has been sent to Income Tax Department for further investigation. The department will investigate the seized amount of more than Rs 10 lakh during election time. Accordingly, all the information related to the seizure has been sent to it. Following this, the Income Tax Department will conduct a detailed investigation into the matter," it said.
