'Dunki' 1st Day Box Office Collection: SRK's Film Underperforms - Check Top 10 Biggest Openers Of All Time

Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki' is off to a slow start after getting mixed reviews from the audience. The Hindi film hit the screens to a huge hype on Thursday.

Released in over 3000 screens in India, Shah Rukh Khan's film has estimatedly collected around Rs 30-32 crore on the first day at the box office. This is lesser by SRK's own standards as his last two movies 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan' had got earth-shattering openings.

While 'Pathaan'. which was released in January, had earned Rs 57 crore, 'Jawan', which saw the light of the day in September, minted Rs 75 crore on the first day.

The three leading cinema chains, namely PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, collectively garnered around Rs 18 crore nett on the opening day, constituting 56 per cent of Dunki's total business. Given the film's Punjab backdrop, it has performed exceptionally well in Delhi and Punjab, with notable success in Shah Rukh Khan's stronghold, West Bengal. While the opening in Mumbai is commendable, the performance in mass belts falls below anticipated levels.

It has to be seen how the movie performs in the days to come, especially since Prabhas' 'Salaar' has released to gigantic hype. From the advance booking alone, the movie has minted over Rs 36 crore in India from all versions.
