Dude OTT Price: How Much Did Netflix Pay For Mythri Movie Makers For Its Digital Rights?

After storming the box office with a string of successes, Pradeep Ranganathan is back in the spotlight - this time not for a theatrical milestone, but for a record-setting OTT deal. His latest film, Dude, which hit theatres on October 17, continues to make waves even weeks after release.

Directed by Keerthiswaran, the entertainer turned out to be one of the biggest money-spinners of the year, raking in over ₹113 crore worldwide, including a solid ₹85 crore in India. The film has charmed audiences across languages - released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi - and further cemented Mythri Movie Makers' position in the Tamil industry.

In Tamil Nadu, Dude alone pulled in an impressive ₹55 crore (net), while Andhra Pradesh contributed nearly ₹18 crore. With strong word of mouth and repeat audiences, the movie's OTT rights naturally became one of the most sought-after deals of the season.

Netflix Wins the Race for Digital Streaming

Even before Dude hit the silver screen, OTT giants were in a bidding war to acquire its post-theatrical rights. Eventually, Netflix secured the film, continuing its successful collaboration with Pradeep Ranganathan after hosting his earlier blockbuster, Dragon.

According to reports, the platform shelled out a massive ₹25 crore for the streaming rights - one of the highest-ever digital deals for a mid-budget Tamil film. The figure underscores the faith streaming services have in Ranganathan's brand of youthful, emotional, and humorous storytelling that connects deeply with urban and regional audiences alike.

A Career on the Rise

Dude marks Pradeep's fourth outing as a lead actor, following Love Today, Dragon, and Love Insurance Kompany (LIK) - the latter still awaiting release. Known for blending heartfelt narratives with social relevance, the actor-filmmaker has quickly become one of Tamil cinema's most bankable young stars.
The film also stars Mamitha Baiju, Sarathkumar, Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, and Dravid Selvam in pivotal roles. Behind the camera, Sai Abhyankkar composed the music, Niketh Bommi handled cinematography, and Barath Vikraman managed the editing.
