Drishyam 3: Mohanlal’s Thriller Expected To Record One Of Malayalam Cinema’s Biggest Openings

Drishyam 3, featuring Mohanlal, has already crossed Rs. 10 crores globally in advance bookings ahead of its release, as per industry tracker AB George. The audience will once again witness Mohanlal as Georgekutty in the latest chapter of the critically acclaimed thriller franchise.

The Malayalam crime thriller, directed by Jeethu Joseph, is all set to release on May 21, 2026. The film marks the return of Georgekutty and his family years after the events of Drishyam and Drishyam 2. Along with Mohanlal, the cast includes Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Siddique, Murali Gopy, and Asha Sharath.

From what could be identified in the trailer, the film highlights Georgekutty struggling with guilt and fear due to his past actions.

Drishyam 3 Crosses Rs. 10 Crore Overseas In Pre-Booking

The presales continue to expand across domestic and global markets, as per Sacnilk. If the film continues with the current momentum, Drishyam 3 could record one of the biggest opening weekends for a Malayalam film in recent years.

The film has already crossed Rs. 4 crore gross in Kerala for its opening day, with more than 2 lakh tickets sold across the state. With a week still left before its release, the film's worldwide advance bookings are estimated to range between ₹7 crore and ₹10 crore gross.

Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kozhikode have emerged as the strongest-performing centres, with several premium shows already nearing sold-out status.

Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 Release Date

The Hindi version of Drishyam 3, produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak and starring Ajay Devgn, is all set to release on October 2, 2026.

Hindi Producer Kumar Mangat's Views On Malayalam Films

Kumar Mangat Pathak gave a statement to ANI, saying, "When the lockdown started, we watched a lot of Malayalam films. We realised that the content there is very good. Different types of films are being made and appreciated there."

While the Hindi adaptation will release later, the Malayalam original is set to arrive in theatres worldwide on May 21, 2026.
