Disha Patani’s Sister Khushboo Says “Shaadi Itni Zaruri Thi?” After Greater Noida Dowry Case

Khushboo Patani, sister of actor Disha Patani, has sparked widespread discussion on social media after reacting strongly to recent alleged dowry-related death cases involving Twisha Sharma and Deepika Nagar. The former Army officer used Instagram to express her anger, frustration, and disappointment over how women are still pressured into marriage despite abusive incidents.

Her statements mainly focused on dowry-related violence, societal expectations surrounding marriage, and the pressure from families to remain silent and tolerate toxic situations instead of leaving them.

Khushboo Patani's Thoughts On Dowry-Related Deaths

Khushboo shared a heartfelt note on Instagram that made people question society's deep-rooted obsession with marriage. She wrote, "Dahez ki aag mein jalti har beti ki khabar ek sawal chor jati hai, kya sach mein shaadi itni zaruri thi?"

She also spoke about the social conditioning many women face from childhood, where marriage is considered essential for respect and acceptance. In another post, she wrote, "Samaj bachpan se sikhata hai 'Ek umra ke baad shaadi kar lo...' 'Akeli ladki achi nahi lagti...' 'Log kya kahenge?'"

She further added, "But no one taught us that living alone is also an art. Being happy with yourself is also a way of life."

Khushboo argued that, in such cases, the responsibility for the deaths of these women does not lie only with abusive in-laws. According to her, parents who ignore their daughters' suffering or ask them to compromise can also contribute to the problem.

In one of her posts, she wrote, "Aaj jitney zimmedar galat saas sasur hote hain, utni hi kayi baar chup rehne wale maa baap bhi hote hain."

She explained that many women try to confide in their families after marriage but are often advised to remain patient and adjust, even in harmful situations. Khushboo said these issues are frequently dismissed as "normal" marital problems rather than recognised as warning signs of abuse.

Khushboo also urged women to reject marriage proposals where dowry becomes a condition. Sharing a powerful message online, she wrote, "Have guts to live alone and say no to marriage if it is all about dowry. Take your right back in the legal battle. Marna nahi hain, Maarna hai!"

In another emotional statement, she suggested that daughters are not merely married off but are gradually sacrificed under societal pressure and humiliation. She wrote, "Dahej kam tha shayad, isliye har roz apmaan hui thi."

She ended her posts with a personal reflection, describing herself as, "Your sister, born to be single."
