Diljit Dosanjh Dedicates Guwahati Concert To Dr Manmohan Singh
Punjabi pop star and actor Diljit Dosanjh, who is doing world wide shows including his 'Dil Luminati' India tour, on Sunday dedicated his Guwahati concert to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. On Instagram, Diljit shared a heartfelt video tribute to Singh, praising him as a man of grace who always maintained civility and never responded rudely, even in the challenging realm of politics.
During the show, Diljit recited a shayari once used by Singh: "Hazaro'n jawabo'n se meri khamoshi acchi, na jane kitne sawalo ki aabru dhak leti hai." He encouraged the youth, including himself, to adopt such dignified manners.

Tributes and Controversies
Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26 after a prolonged illness. The film industry mourned his loss and expressed gratitude for his contributions to India's progress. Meanwhile, Diljit addressed allegations regarding the spelling of Punjab on social media. He explained that English can be tricky for non-native speakers and clarified that writing 'Panjab' instead of 'Punjab' should not be seen as controversial.
On X (formerly Twitter), he elaborated on how forgetting to include India's flag in a tweet led to conspiracy theories. He stated, "If you write 'Panjab’ instead of 'Punjab’, it will remain 'Punjab’. Panj Aab – 5 Rivers." He questioned those who create conspiracies around language usage and reaffirmed his love for India.
Rising Stardom and Achievements
Diljit's career has soared over recent years with successful films in both Hindi and Punjabi cinema. Notably, he became the first Indian artist to perform at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April 2023. Following him was fellow Punjabi artist A.P. Dhillon at Coachella in April 2024.
The singer-actor is set to wrap up the India leg of his Dil-Luminati tour in Ludhiana soon. His journey from regional fame to international recognition continues to inspire many young artists across India.
