Diljit Dosanjh Breaks Silence with Cryptic Post After Threats Over Touching Amitabh Bachchan’s Feet

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has finally addressed - albeit indirectly - the controversy surrounding him after a Khalistani terror group threatened him for touching Amitabh Bachchan's feet during his recent appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 (KBC 17).

While the singer-actor has not made a direct statement about the threats, his latest Instagram Story appears to be a subtle yet powerful response.

Diljit's Instagram Message

Sharing a snapshot of himself from the KBC 17 episode, Diljit wrote in Punjabi:

"Na mai kisey film di promotion lai geya c, na kisey ganey di promotion lai. Punjab floods lai geya c... ke national level te gal hove, te loki donate kar sakan."

(Translation: "I didn't go there to promote any film or song. I went for the Punjab flood cause, so that it could be discussed nationally and people could contribute.")

The message makes it clear that Diljit's appearance on the show was driven by a humanitarian motive - to raise awareness about the Punjab flood relief efforts, not for personal publicity.

The Controversy

Earlier, a Khalistani outfit had issued threats to disrupt Diljit's upcoming concert in Melbourne, coinciding with Sikh Genocide Remembrance Month. The group accused the singer of "insulting the victims of the 1984 Sikh Genocide" by showing respect to Amitabh Bachchan.

They claimed in a statement:

"By touching the feet of Bachchan, the man whose words orchestrated genocide, Diljit Dosanjh has insulted every victim, every widow, and every orphan of 1984."

Neither Diljit, Amitabh Bachchan, nor the KBC 17 team has officially commented on the issue so far.

Diljit's Upcoming Projects

Despite the controversy, Diljit continues his AURA Tour, with concerts lined up in Australia on November 1, 5, and 9.
On the professional front, he was recently seen in Amar Hundal's Sardaar Ji 3 alongside Neeru Bajwa, and has earned an Emmy 2025 nomination for his acclaimed performance in Imtiaz Ali's Amar Singh Chamkila opposite Parineeti Chopra, streaming now on Netflix.
