Did Shilpa Shinde Admit Her Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Producer Sanjay Kohli Were False?

Actor Shilpa Shinde has made a shocking revelation about the controversy that unfolded nearly a decade ago and led to her exit from the popular television show Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!.

Appearing on a recent podcast hosted by comedian Bharti Singh and writer Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Shilpa admitted that the sexual harassment allegations she had levelled against producer Sanjay Kohli during the dispute were not true.

Shilpa's Confession

The actress recalled a difficult phase in her career and explained that, at the time, she felt cornered and believed she had no other option. Speaking candidly, Shilpa confessed that she had filed a sexual harassment complaint against the producer as part of a larger battle over unpaid dues and workplace issues.

She revealed that the complaint was filed when tensions escalated between her and the show's makers. According to Shilpa, the situation later moved towards a settlement, after which her pending payments were cleared. She claimed that the allegations had seriously affected the producer's reputation within the television industry, adding that several producers distanced themselves from him during the controversy.

In a surprising admission, Shilpa acknowledged that the accusations were not true. She stated that this was the first time she had publicly spoken about the matter. The actress further explained that the dispute was eventually resolved through a mutual settlement, following which the financial disagreements between both parties were settled.

Current Relationship Between Shilpa and the Makers of Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!

Shilpa shared that despite the bitter fallout, her relationship with those involved in the show has improved significantly over the years. She mentioned that she later returned to Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! after nearly 11 years, largely out of respect for the show's late writer Manoj Santoshi.

According to Shilpa, it was Santoshi's wish to see her associated with the project once again. She also admitted that the controversy had hurt several people connected to the show, including Santoshi.

Today, Shilpa says she shares a cordial relationship with those involved and that the old differences have largely been put behind them.

What Triggered the Controversy?

In March 2016, Shilpa abruptly quit Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!. Her departure sparked a public feud with the show's producers, who accused her of being unprofessional and violating contractual commitments.

Producer Binaifer Kohli subsequently served the actress with a legal notice, demanding that she either resume shooting for the show or compensate the production house for losses caused by her exit. The matter was also taken to the Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA), where a complaint was lodged against Shilpa.

In response, the actress initiated legal proceedings of her own and filed a complaint against Binaifer Kohli on March 29. This escalated the dispute into one of television's most talked-about controversies. The issue dominated entertainment headlines for months before both parties eventually reached a settlement and moved on from the legal battle.
