Coolie Vs War 2 Box Office Collection: Rajinikanth's Coolie Dominates Against Hrithik Roshan's War 2

The Independence Day weekend saw a major box office showdown with two highly anticipated films, Rajinikan's "Coolie" and Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR's "War 2," both releasing on the same day. The clash between these cinematic giants drew immense attention nationwide. As the three-day collection figures are revealed, one film has emerged as the clear leader.

Rajinikanth's "Coolie" is making waves at the box office. It opened with a massive Rs 65 crore net on Thursday, followed by Rs 54.75 crore on Friday and Rs 38.50 crore on Saturday. This brings its three-day India net total to an impressive Rs 158.25 crore.

Global Success of Coolie

On the international stage, "Coolie" is unstoppable. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala confirmed that it crossed Rs 320 crore gross worldwide in just three days, marking it as the fifth Rajinikanth film to enter the 300-crore club. In North America, it shattered records by surpassing the $5.5 million mark.

Meanwhile, in Australia and New Zealand, "Coolie" became the fastest Tamil film to reach a $1 million gross milestone. Sun Pictures celebrated this achievement on social media, calling it an "unstoppable season." The film has already surpassed the lifetime total of Rajinikanth's previous release, "Vettaiyan," which ended at Rs 146.89 crore.

Star-Studded Cast of Coolie

The film features a stellar cast alongside Rajinikanth. Nagarjuna Akkineni plays the antagonist, while Aamir Khan makes a special appearance. Supporting roles are filled by Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, this action-packed entertainer is winning hearts for its slick visuals and engaging storytelling.

In terms of occupancy rates for "Coolie," it recorded 38.99 percent Hindi occupancy on Saturday (Day 3). Morning shows started at 17.24 percent but surged later in the day with evening shows reaching nearly 50 percent occupancy.

War 2 Faces Challenges

On the other hand, Ayan Mukerji's "War 2," starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, had a strong start but faced challenges by its third day. The film earned Rs 52 crore on Thursday and grew to Rs 57.35 crore on Friday but dropped to Rs 33 crore on Saturday (Day 3).

This brings its three-day India total to Rs 142.35 crore. The Hindi version contributed significantly with Rs 44.5 crore on Friday, while Telugu markets added Rs 12.5 crore.

Despite Jr NTR's pan-India appeal, "War 2" experienced lower occupancy rates on Saturday at 31.42 percent in Hindi markets. Morning shows began weakly at 16.27 percent and only reached 38.81 percent by evening.

The sharp decline in numbers has raised questions about its hold over the extended holiday weekend despite appreciation for its scale and star power.

The competition from "Coolie" has clearly impacted its momentum during this crucial period.
