Coolie Box Office: Bengaluru Outshines Chennai In Presales, Rajinikanth Magic Strikes Big

Rajinikanth's much-anticipated film Coolie is already setting the box office on fire even before its release! The advance booking numbers are in, and they're nothing short of spectacular.

The film has raked in a whopping ₹33 crore from India alone in presales, while its worldwide collections have crossed the ₹80-crore mark-talk about superstar power!

Here's the fun part: Bengaluru has outdone Chennai in advance bookings! The movie has earned ₹7.12 crore from 865 shows in Bengaluru, while Chennai contributed ₹4.13 crore from 714 shows, according to Sacnilk data. That said, Tamil Nadu as a whole is still leading with ₹13.32 crore, compared to Karnataka's ₹8.08 crore. But let's be real-Tamil films don't usually dominate Karnataka beyond Bengaluru, so this is still a massive win.

Tamil Nadu Ticket Price Cap

One big reason for the difference? Ticket prices in Tamil Nadu are capped (usually between ₹150-₹200 per ticket), keeping movies affordable but limiting per-screen revenue. Whereas there are so such caps on movie ticket prices in Karnataka, although the government has announced that it will be restricted to Rs 200.

Interestingly, the first show will begin at 6 am in Karnataka while it starts at 9 am in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, other states like Kerala (first to start advance booking) and Andhra Pradesh are also chipping in-Kerala alone has brought in ₹5.45 crore from 2,117 shows, with Kochi contributing ₹1.26 crore from 325 shows. Andhra Pradesh added ₹2 crore from 805 shows, and Hyderabad pitched in ₹1.25 crore from 322 shows.

The Tamil version alone has earned nearly ₹10 crore from 6,634 shows, with a staggering 11 lakh tickets sold already. The latest movie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures.

Nagarjuna plays the baddie in Coolie with Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Aamir Khan in key roles.

With Coolie hitting screens on August 14, these numbers are just the beginning. If advance bookings are any indication, Thalaivar is all set for yet another blockbuster!
