Coldplay's Chris Martin Takes Audience By Surprise With His 'Punjabi Aa Gaye Oye' Phrase | WATCH
Coldplay is set to visit India soon, but they've already had a glimpse of what's in store. During their recent concert in Abu Dhabi, frontman Chris Martin delighted the crowd by reading a fan's sign inspired by Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.
Chris Martin says 'Punjabi aa gaye oye'

In a short video clip shared on Diljit's team's Instagram Stories on Friday night, Chris Martin spotted a fan sign in the audience and read aloud, "Punjabi aa gaye oye," much to the crowd's excitement.
He then added, "We love you too." The Instagram Story caption read, "Chris Martin says PUNJABI AA GAYE OYE (heart eyes emoji).....!!!! Chris Martin reading Coldplay fan posters and flags is so wholesome (sparkle and hearts hand emoji)."
"Punjabi aa gaye oye" (Punjabis have arrived) is a phrase popularised by Diljit, particularly when he made history as the first Punjabi artist to perform at Coachella in 2023. Since then, it has become a rallying cry symbolising his global success and a proud anthem for Punjabis worldwide.
Coldplay and Diljit's tours in India
Last year, Diljit toured across India as part of his Dil-Luminati Tour. Starting in Gurgaon in October, he performed in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Indore, and Guwahati, before concluding the tour in his hometown, Ludhiana, on New Year's Eve.
Coldplay, following their Abu Dhabi show, will return to India for their "Music of the Spheres" tour. They are scheduled to perform in Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, followed by two shows in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26. This marks their return to India after an eight-year gap, having last performed at the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai in 2016.
Both Diljit and Coldplay's concerts have faced controversies over allegations of ticket black marketing after the shows sold out within minutes.
