Celina Jaitly Files Domestic Violence Case Against Husband, Seeks Rs 50 Crore Compensation

Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has approached a Mumbai court accusing her husband, Peter Haag, of domestic violence and seeking Rs 50 crore in compensation for loss of earnings. Jaitly and Haag married in 2010 and are parents to three children: Winston, Viraaj and Arthur.

Petition Filed in Mumbai Court

The actress filed her petition on November 21, prompting the court to issue a notice to Haag, an Austrian entrepreneur and hotelier. Jaitly, known for films like No Entry, Apna Sapna Money Money, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Golmaal Returns and Thank You, stated in her plea that Haag is a "narcissist" and "self absorbed individual" who shows "no empathy" towards her or their children.

Jaitly alleged that she endured emotional, physical, sexual and verbal abuse during their marriage. According to her, the situation became so severe that she fled from their home in Austria and returned to India.

Allegations of Financial Control and Marital Strain

Represented by Karanjawala and Co., Jaitly has requested Rs 10 lakh per month as maintenance and sought a restraining order to prevent Haag from entering her Mumbai residence. She also asked for custody of their children, who are currently living with Haag in Austria.

The petition states that Haag restricted her from working after the birth of their children and "robbed her of her financial independence and dignity". She claimed she could only take on "small projects with the permission" of Haag on limited occasions.

Jaitly noted that Haag filed for divorce in an Austrian court in August this year. The couple welcomed their first set of twin boys in March 2012. Five years later, Jaitly gave birth to another set of twins, though one of the infants passed away due to a hypoplastic heart.

Past Posts and Ongoing Family Concerns

The former Miss India and Miss Universe runner up had previously written a heartfelt social media post for Haag on their anniversary last year. She recalled, "14 years ago today Peter Haag flew down to Mumbai for 8 hours only (he had an important meeting the next day) to meet my father and mother. I did not know he asked for their permission to propose to me... That very same night before departure, he proposed to me with a ring."

She added that Haag had proposed at the very place where her mother once said she would meet her future partner. Quoting her mother, she wrote, "The wrong one will find you in peace and leave you in pieces, but the right one will find you in pieces and lead you to peace." Reflecting on their journey, she said, "Today 14 years later, after many highs and many, many lows, we look back together on all the things that we were destined to endure."

In the same post, she said, "Marriage should be above all small bickerings ... Marriage should be above everything that makes us human."

Legal Battle Involving Brother's Detention in UAE

Recently, Jaitly also approached a Delhi court regarding her brother, Major retired Vikrant Jaitly, alleging that he had been "illegally abducted and detained" in the United Arab Emirates. She said her brother has lived in the UAE since 2016 and worked with the MATITI Group, which operates in trading, consultancy and risk management.

Jaitly claimed that the Ministry of External Affairs has not been able to provide essential information regarding his welfare or legal status since his detention in September 2024. The court instructed authorities to make efforts to establish communication between Jaitly and her brother and to also facilitate contact between him and his wife.
