'Bigg Boss Tamil 8': Host Name, Contestant List & Launch Date

Vijay Television has released the first teaser for the eighth season of Bigg Boss Tamil, officially revealing that actor Vijay Sethupathi will be the new host, replacing Kamal Haasan. The makers confirmed this on September 4, with a promo showing Sethupathi preparing for his role as the host of the popular reality show.

This isn't Sethupathi's first stint as a host; he previously helmed MasterChef Tamil, which aired on Sony LIV. His appointment comes after weeks of speculation, with names like Simbu, Arvind Swamy, and Prakash Raj rumored to be in the running for the hosting role. Ultimately, Sethupathi has taken over the mantle from Kamal Haasan.

Last month, Kamal Haasan announced via social media that he would be stepping down from his hosting duties due to prior film commitments. In his heartfelt message, Kamal expressed his gratitude to the viewers, saying, "With a heavy heart, I wish to inform you that I will be taking a small break from our journey that began 7 years ago. Due to prior cinematic commitments, I'm unable to host the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Tamil." He went on to thank the audience, contestants, and Vijay TV for their support, calling his hosting experience "enriching."

He also said, "Personally, being your host has been an enriching association, where I have honestly shared my learnings. I will always be grateful for this learning experience. I sincerely thank each one of you and the contestants in the show for our time together. Lastly, I would like to thank the wonderful team at Vijay TV, as well as every crew member who has been involved in making this enterprise a grand success. I am sure this season will be yet another success."

Contestants' List

As for the contestants, several names have been confirmed, including Shalin Zoya, Ranjith, VJ Bavithra, Sridevi Vijayakumar, RJ Ananthi, and Babloo Prithiveeraj. There are also speculated contestants like Riyaz Khan, Poonam Bajwa, Karthik Kumar, Shwetha Menon, and Makapa Anand.

When Will It Be Launched?

The show's launch date is rumored to be either September 29 or October 6, though an official announcement is still awaited.
