Big Step By Thalapathy Vijay To Enter Politics When His Career At Its Peak: Karthik

Tamil actor Karthik has welcomed Thalapathy Vijay's entry to politics. The latter has founded 'Tamilaga Vetri Kazham' (TVK) which will contest in 2026 assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to media on Thursday, Karthik lauded Vijay's timing, stating that entering politics at the pinnacle of his career is significant. "My brother has chosen the right moment. Entering politics at the peak of one's career is a big step. He has stated his intent to finish his film commitments before plunging into politics. As his brother, I hope he continues acting, as his on-screen presence effectively communicates messages to the people," Karthik remarked.

Thalapathy Vijay formally announced his political entry in February. In a statement, the actor also clarified that neither him nor his party is going to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He has set his eyes on the 2026 Assembly polls.

With the demise of Dravidian stalwarts J Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi, the TVK is possibly seeing a space in Tamil Nadu politics. On the other hand, the BJP under the leadership of K Annamalai is hoping to leave an impact in the state politics. Surveys have indicated that the saffron party might secure double-digit vote share and bag a few seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

If the BJP can make a mark, it can pose a challenge to the TVK as both Vijay and Annamalai are young and dynamic, say political observers.

Currently, Vijay is working on his next movie 'GOAT' (Greatest of All Time). The movie, directed by Venkat Prabhu, has Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Yogi Babu, Premji Amaren among others. Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring the music while Siddhartha Nuni is handling the camera.

Meanwhile, Vijay has announced the release date of the movie. Well, it will be out on September 5 to coincide with Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.
