'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' Release Date September, Director Tim Burton, Other Details

A trailer for the film 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' dropped on the Warner Bros. Pictures YouTube channel a couple hours ago, showing off snippets of the film. The trailer also revealed the release date to be sometime around 6 September, 2024 for national audiences in America. International audiences, like those in India, can expect it to hit theatres on 4 September, 2024.

The new film acts as a sequel to the original film 'Beetlejuice', released in 1988. The original movie was also directed by Tim Burton and distributed by Warner Bros. Tim Burton is known for classic western animation films like 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', 'Frankenweenie', and 'Corpse Bride'.

The new film will bring back characters from the original film as well. Micheal Keaton will again be taking on the role of 'Beetlejuice', 36 years after his original performance. Meanwhile, Winona Ryder, who played the role of 'Lydia Deetz' when she was 16, will take on that same role again. Ryder is now 52 though, but the character of 'Lydia Deetz' has also aged alongside the actress in the sequel. Catherine O'Hara will also be making an appearance in the movie as 'Delia Deetz', mother of 'Lydia Deetz'.

The movie will also cast other actors like Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe.

The plot of the sequel, as stated by Warner Bros, goes as follows, "Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it's only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice's name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem."

Fans of the original film or the work of Tim Burton in general will be delighted to know that 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' will also be showing on IMAX on its release date of 4 September, 2024.
