Has Ayushmann Khurrana Opted Out Of Sourav Ganguly's Biopic? Rumours Fly
Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly walked out of cricketer Sourav Ganguly's biopic, leaving the producers in a state of shock. The actor had been in discussions with Luv Ranjan about the project since 2021 and was keen to portray the Indian cricket legend on screen. This unexpected decision has raised questions about the future of the biopic, Bollywood Hungama reported.
"Luv Rajan and his team were giving final touches to the script of Sourav Ganguly Biopic when Ayushmann Khurrana dropped the bomb of backing out. The actor has cited date issues, and also explained the conversation of biopic overdose in the film industry. He is now focusing on Thamma with Dinesh Vijan and will follow that up with the Spy Comedy by Dharma," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

Ayushmann Khurrana had previously expressed his desire to star in a cricket-based film, stating, "Doing a film on cricket is a part of my bucket-list." His enthusiasm for portraying Sourav Ganguly was evident, making his sudden exit all the more surprising.
Since 2021, Ayushmann Khurrana has been discussing this project with Luv Ranjan. The actor had shown interest in playing Sourav Ganguly and was excited about starting this journey by late 2024. However, due to scheduling conflicts and concerns over too many biopics being made, he decided to step back.
Ayushmann's New Focus
The filmmaker will have to now approach another big actor for the project. "Playing Sourav Ganguly on big screen is a once-in-lifetime opportunity for the actors and Luv is sure to get a top actor to play the leading man," the source added.
However, another source has denied any such development saying that it is "incorrect information". The source said, "Ayushmann hasn't even heard the narration of this film. The narration of the film is set to take place next month. Everyone is excited to make this one happen."
Luv Ranjan's Current Projects
Meanwhile, Luv Ranjan is occupied with two other productions - 'De De Pyaar De 2' and an action thriller featuring Ajay Devgn. These projects are keeping him busy as he navigates through this unexpected change in casting for the biopic.
Ayushmann Khurrana's decision marks a significant shift in his career trajectory as he focuses on other upcoming projects like Thamma and a spy comedy under Dharma Productions. This move showcases his versatility and dedication to exploring diverse roles within Indian cinema.
