'Animal' OTT Release Date: When & Where To Watch Ranbir, Rashmika's Film Online?

The Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' will drop on Netflix on January 26, on the occasion of Republic Day. The film was released in theatres on December 1 and has finally made its way to its streaming platform.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, 'Animal' also has Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in lead roles.

'Animal' OTT Release: Extended Cuts

The director Vanga said in an interview that he had regretted chopping off around 8-10 minutes of the movie during the theatrical release as per the Central Board of Film Certification's directive.

However, he has re-edited the movie for Netflix. The scenes - earlier edited out - would be included in the OTT version.

Why Scenes Are Included At OTT?

Before its theatrical release, reports the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked the filmmakers to remove intimate scenes between the characters portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor and Tripti Dimri.

Web series and films on OTT platforms, unlike those released in theaters, do not necessitate CBFC certification.

Why Animal Releases Late On Netflix?

CINE 1 Studios and T-Series had a legal dispute over contract breaches that led to a delay in the OTT release of a film. CINE 1 accused T-Series of ignoring contract terms related to equal ownership and certain rights.

The disagreement included issues like unauthorised movie releases, production expenses, and lack of consultation. The parties reached an agreement on January 22, clearing the way for the film's release. However, additional claims by CINE 1 accused T-Series of financial misconduct, including withholding revenue and not disclosing production costs.

T-Series countered, alleging that CINE 1 concealed a document showing the relinquishment of film rights for Rs 2.2 crore, which CINE 1 labelled as forged.
