According to reports by IANS, Akshay Kumar reportedly asked for a staggering Rs 35 to 40 crores for just 18-22 days of shooting. Ironically, this amount is significantly higher than what the franchise's lead actor, Ajay Devgn, is reportedly taking upfront.

Sources claimed that Ajay Devgn chose a profit-sharing model as a producer, which could earn him a substantial amount if the film becomes a blockbuster.

An IANS insider reportedly confirmed the news by saying, "Akshay Kumar is shooting for 18-22 days, and he is getting around Rs 35-Rs 40 crores, which is more than Ajay Devgn's upfront fees because he is on a profit-sharing basis."

Rohit Shetty's Response To The Rumours

Soon after the rumours started making headlines, Rohit Shetty dismissed them through his spokesperson, calling them "completely baseless, inaccurate, and purely speculative."

The team released a note stating, "There have been several speculative reports doing the rounds regarding the commercials and remuneration associated with Golmaal 5, particularly in relation to Akshay Kumar's fee for the film. We would like to categorically state that these claims are completely baseless, inaccurate, and purely speculative."

The announcement for Golmaal 5 was made on Rohit Shetty's birthday in March. However, the news about Akshay joining the franchise was initially kept hidden from fans.

It was only when the makers dropped a behind-the-scenes video that Akshay's appearance surprised audiences. His all-new look sparked discussions among fans about his character in the film.

Akshay addressed the buzz during a recent chat with News18, saying, "I'm happy that they think I was good enough to be a part of Golmaal. Ajay is the main hero. I'm not playing the main part. But what's wrong with it? For me, it's far more important what the film is setting out to achieve. If I like the story, I'll do it."

"Mera role badhiya hai Golmaal mein, but Ajay's the hero. I've no insecurity. Uski koi zaroorat nahi hai," he further added.

Golmaal 5 will bring back the iconic friendship and humour that fans have loved for over twenty years. The film reportedly features Ajay Devgn returning as his legendary character, Gopal.
