Popular Kannada actor Ajay Rao has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife, Swapna, ending their 11-year-long marriage. The news has left fans shocked, as the couple was often seen as one of the most stable pairs in the Kannada film industry.

For months, whispers of tension between the two had been circulating on social media and industry circles, but neither Ajay nor Swapna had ever addressed the rumors publicly. Ajay and Swapna tied the knot in 2014 in Hospet in a private ceremony attended by close family and friends. Ajay Rao, who shot to fame with Excuse Me (2003) and later delivered hits like Taj Mahal, Krishnan Love Story, and Krishna Leela, has acted in over 30 films. In 2015, he also ventured into film production with his own banner, Shree Krishna Arts And Creations. While his acting career brought him recognition, his transition into production seems to have come at a personal cost.

According to a report in Asianet Suvarna, the strain in Ajay and Swapna's marriage deepened after Ajay began focusing on producing films in addition to acting. His recent project, Yuddhakanda, which he both produced and starred in, failed to perform well at the box office despite receiving decent reviews.

The financial setback from the film was reportedly severe, with Ajay said to have invested around ₹4-5 crore and even sold his luxury BMW car to fund the project. The losses from Yuddhakanda are believed to have put immense pressure on the couple's relationship, eventually widening the gap between them.

While some attribute the fallout to financial strain, others suggest compatibility issues may have also played a role. With no official statement from either Ajay or Swapna, the exact reason for their split remains uncertain. What is clear, however, is that the couple has approached the court to formalize their separation.
