Aishwarya Rai's Deepfake Video Shocks Internet
The concerning trend persists as deepfake technology poses a substantial risk to the lives of celebrities. Recently, numerous fake videos featuring celebrities have gone viral on the internet.
Adding to the growing issue, a deepfake video of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is circulating widely on social media. The video depicts a woman in a swimming pool with Aishwarya's face superimposed, and it is currently making rounds on Instagram.

Deepfakes are videos or images that are created using Artificial Intelligence (AI)--powered deep learning software that shows people saying and doing things that they didn't say or do.
The misuse of technology became a hot topic of discussion in India last month after a deep fake video of Rashmika Mandanna started circulating on social media platforms. Netizens claimed the video has been morphed and the actual video is of an Indian-origin person living in the UK.
Similarly, fake videos of Kajol, Alia Bhat and a few others went viral.
Also, a fake photo of Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has gone viral.
A nude photo claiming to be of Kriti Sanon has hit the internet. Sanon's picture has been replaced with a nude woman's photo. She is the latest celebrity to land in such a situation when deepfake videos of several celebrities have gone viral on internet.
Understanding the seriousness of the situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned that deepfakes created by artificial intelligence can lead to a big crisis and stoke discontent in society, as he urged the media to raise awareness about its misuse and educate people.
"In a diverse society like ours, deepfakes can cause a big crisis and even stoke the fire of discontent as people generally trust anything associated with the media in the same way anyone clad in 'gedua' (saffron) tends to get respect from others.
"A new crisis is emerging due to deepfakes produced through artificial intelligence. There is a very big section of society which does not have a parallel verification system," PM Modi told journalists at a programme, last month.
It is not just celebrities, people have targeted notable personalities such as Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and Ratan Tata.
