Aishwarya Rai s Curse Remark Goes Viral Amid Divorce Rumors With Abhishek Bachchan

Did Aishwarya Rai Really Marry a 'Tree' Before Abhishek Bachchan?

Before her highly publicized wedding to Abhishek Bachchan, there were rumors that Aishwarya, being manglik, had to perform an ancient ritual by "marrying" a tree to ward off bad omens. However, Aishwarya later addressed these claims, dismissing them as baseless. In an interview with NDTV, she clarified, "Yes, there was so much of that. I just thought it was so unnecessary. To dedicate the kind of prime time, newsprint, magazine cover stories for all of that was very unnecessary." She went on to say that her family chose to stay quiet, letting her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan address the media after the wedding, providing clarity once and for all.

Reflecting further, Aishwarya expressed her disbelief at the global curiosity over such rumors. "It's shocking," she remarked. "When you travel abroad and engage with international media, they begin to question the absurdity, like, 'You got married to a tree, and you have this huge curse on you?' It was surreal. You just think, 'Oh my god, where do I even start?'"

Aishwarya and Abhishek's relationship began on the sets of Dhoom 2, and they got engaged while filming Guru, with Abhishek proposing to her. Their 2007 wedding became one of the most talked-about events of the year, covered extensively by the media. The couple welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011, marking another significant milestone in their celebrated lives.
