Actress Kavya Gowda Attacked, Husband Stabbed In Bengaluru As Family Dispute Turns Violent

Bengaluru witnessed a shocking incident of domestic discord spiralling into violence after a family dispute involving television actress Kavya Gowda allegedly led to a physical assault and the stabbing of her husband. The incident, which occurred on Monday evening, has resulted in complaints and counter-complaints being filed at the Ramamurthy Nagar police station, with investigations currently underway, according to reports in the Kannada media.

Kavya Gowda, known for her roles in the reality show Pyate Mandi Kaadige Bandru and her roles in popular Kannada television serials such as Gandhari and Radha Ramana, married businessman Somashekar in 2021. The couple has been living in NRI Layout, Bengaluru, along with Somashekar's half-brother Nandish, his wife Prema, and other family members.

The First Information Report (FIR), registered based on a complaint by Bhavya Gowda, states that Kavya called her multiple times in distress on the evening of the incident, reporting threats and physical assault. The complainant alleged that the accused persons restrained, abused, and assaulted Kavya and Somashekar, and threatened to kill family members.

According to the complaint, Prema, her husband Nandish, and their father Ravikumar allegedly attacked Kavya and Somashekar with sticks and rods. During the altercation, Somashekar was allegedly stabbed with a knife. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have reportedly stated that his condition is stable and out of immediate danger.

Based on the complaint, police have registered cases under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to assault, criminal intimidation, and unlawful restraint.

Counter-Complaint Filed

On the other hand, Prema's relatives have alleged that Kavya Gowda's side provoked and assaulted them. The contents of the counter-complaint are being examined, and statements from all parties involved are being recorded.

Senior police officials told a Kannada news channel that CCTV footage from the residence, medical reports, and witness statements will be crucial in determining the sequence of events. "This appears to be a family dispute that escalated. We are investigating both complaints impartially," a police officer said.

Meanwhile, Kavya Gowda and her husband remain under medical observation. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation, police said.

What Kavya Gowda Says About The Attack?

Speaking to the media after the incident, Kavya Gowda made grave allegations against her relatives by marriage. She claimed that Ravikumar, Prema's father, threatened her with sexual violence. Kavya alleged that she was physically assaulted and verbally abused, and demanded strict legal action against those involved.

"I am not someone who seeks publicity over trivial issues. My husband was stabbed, and I was assaulted. This should be punished according to the law. I want justice," Kavya said.
