Priest booked for vandalising forest office

department has filed a complaint with police against a mob which vandalised their office in Thamarasseri during a hartal on November 19. The hartal was called in protest against Kasturirangan committee report.

The mob of over 500 men armed with sticks and crowbars, who arrived at the office premises in lorries, set the office in fire and vandalised government vehicles.

In an exclusive report by Malayala Manorama, the forest officers said that the mob was lead by a church priest Father Saji.

Files of around 150 pending cases were destroyed, said the forest officials. The files dealt with poachers, private encroachers etc are among those destroyed.
