The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 on 6 March 2026. The result has been released on the official website, upsc.gov.in, in PDF format containing the roll numbers and names of candidates who successfully cleared all stages of the examination, including the written test and the Personality Test.

A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Central Group 'A' and Group 'B' services.

Anuj Agnihotri Secures AIR 1 in UPSC Result 2026

Anuj Agnihotri has secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2026. He is a doctor by profession and completed his medical degree from AIIMS Jodhpur.

Rajeshwari Suve M secured AIR 2, emerging as the top female candidate this year. The third position was claimed by Akansh Dhull, a B.Com (Hons) graduate from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University, who had earlier secured AIR 342 in the UPSC 2023 examination.

Meanwhile, Raghav Jhunjhunwala secured AIR 4. He completed his B.A. (Hons) in Economics from SRCC in 2022. Ishan Bhatnagar secured AIR 5 and had previously achieved AIR 276 in the 2023 cycle, according to initial information.

Category-wise Distribution of Recommended Candidates

The UPSC has also released the category-wise breakup of the candidates recommended in the final merit list. The list reflects representation from various categories:

• General: 446 candidates
• EWS: 104 candidates
• OBC: 306 candidates
• SC: 158 candidates
• ST: 73 candidates

Candidates selected under the OBC category must verify their 'Non-Creamy Layer' status based on their parental income for the past three years. Similarly, candidates recommended under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category will have their income certificates verified by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for the financial year 2024-25.

The merit list also indicates candidates selected under Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) through horizontal reservation across categories.

Service Allocation and Training for Selected Candidates

According to the vacancies notified for the 2025-26 cycle, the first 180 candidates will be allocated to the IAS, 55 to the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and 150 to the Indian Police Service (IPS). The remaining candidates will be recommended for various Central Group 'A' and Group 'B' services.

Candidates selected for the IFS will undergo specialised training at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) in Delhi, where the curriculum focuses on international law, diplomacy, and mandatory foreign language training.

Those allocated to the IPS and Railway Protection Force will undergo a technical medical examination, which includes tests for colour blindness, squint and hearing ability.

All newly selected civil servants will begin their foundational training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie. A key component of their training includes the "Village Visit" programme, where officers spend time in remote villages to understand grassroots governance and identify gaps in government scheme implementation.
