The wait is finally over to an end for nearly nine lakh students across Tamil Nadu, as the Directorate of Government Education have declared the Class 10 public examination results today at 9.30 am.

This year, pass percentage stands at 94.31%. Girls have once again outperformed boys, recording a pass rate of 96.47 per cent compared to 92.15 per cent among boys.

As many as 5,171 schools across the state achieved a perfect 100 per cent result this year.

The performance trend shows steady improvement over the past few years. The pass percentage stood at 93.80 per cent in 2025, 91.55 per cent in 2024, 91.39 per cent in 2023, and 90.07 per cent in 2022. In 2021 and 2020, the state recorded a complete pass rate due to alternative assessment methods adopted during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Among districts, Pudukkottai led the chart with 97.57 per cent, closely followed by Sivagangai at 97.54 per cent and Thanjavur at 97.41 per cent. Trichy secured 97.31 per cent, while Kanniyakumari recorded 97.30 per cent.

This year's results highlight both the upward trajectory in overall performance and the consistent academic edge demonstrated by girls across the state.

The SSLC examinations were conducted across the state between March 11 and April 6 under tight supervision. This year witnessed a massive participation of over nine lakh candidates, reflecting the scale and importance of the examinations in Tamil Nadu's education system.

According to official data, a total of 9,09,002 candidates appeared for the examinations. This included 8,82,806 students from 12,467 schools, 25,801 private candidates, and 395 prison inmates. To ensure smooth conduct of the examinations, the School Education Department established 4,219 examination centres across Tamil Nadu.

Special arrangements were also made for 12,292 differently-abled students, who were provided with scribes and other necessary assistance to help them complete the examinations comfortably. More than 45,000 teachers were engaged in examination duties, while over 4,800 flying squads monitored centres statewide to prevent malpractice and maintain transparency.

Following the completion of the examinations, answer sheet valuation was carried out at multiple centres across the state. Officials completed the evaluation process in recent weeks before beginning the digital uploading of marks and final data verification procedures. Sources from the School Education Department said the final stages of result processing had been underway over the past few days, paving the way for the formal announcement.

Students can access their results online immediately after the declaration through the official Tamil Nadu results portals by entering their registration number and date of birth.

Apart from the examination update, Minister Rajmohan also confirmed that schools across Tamil Nadu would reopen on June 1 after the summer vacation, as scheduled earlier. Preparations for the new academic year are already underway, with teacher training programmes for revised textbooks and curriculum changes set to be conducted between June 1 and June 3.

The minister had recently launched new textbooks for Classes 1 to 3 as part of the Tamil Nadu government's efforts to strengthen foundational learning and modernise primary education.

Tamil Nadu has consistently maintained strong Class 10 results over the past few years. In 2024, the state recorded an overall pass percentage of 91.55%, with girls significantly outperforming boys. Ariyalur district emerged as the top-performing district last year.

Education observers are now keenly watching whether the 2025 results will continue the state's strong academic performance trend, especially after another year that saw girls outperform boys in several districts during internal assessments and preparatory examinations.
